In 2016, Maggie Rogers wrote Alaska and played the song for Pharrell Williams in a masterclass at New York University. A video of a visibly moved Williams listening to the song went viral that June, resulting in millions of views. “I have zero, zero, zero notes for that,” Williams said in awe after Rogers played her track.

Rogers’ rural upbringing and the recent time she’s spent traveling have taught her to embrace her natural surroundings—a philosophy that is clearly reflected in her music.

“All I want to do is combine the folk imagery and harmony and natural samples that I’ve been picking up while hiking over the last couple of years, with the backbone and energy of dance music,” Rogers explained to Pharrell.

Rogers released her first full-length album Heard It In The Past including Alaska. Just recently, she shared a new track, Love You For A Long Time, following her nomination for Best New Artist at the 2020 Grammy Awards.
